Our plan is simple.

This October, we're going to pull together the UK's biggest ever festival line-up.....

Oxjam is Oxfam's month-long music festival. It runs all through October with hundreds of events around the UK, all organised by volunteers who know and love their local music scene, all raising money to save lives around the world.

Since the first festival in 2006, Oxjam has raised more than £1.75 million in total for Oxfam’s work. That’s enough to buy 15,000 emergency shelters; 70,000 goats or 1050 classrooms.

In 2009 the Oxjam Takeover was introduced. These amazing multi-venue one-wristband-gives-access-to-all events (think Camden Crawl) have become the showcase of the year for local emerging talent.

Over the past three years, we have had 86 Takeover events all over the UK, using more than 500 venues, with more than 13,500 artists performing. Tens of thousands of people have now been to an Oxjam Takeover, and they've raised £325,000 for Oxfam.

In 2011 we introduced Oxjam to Coventry. With just a small core team, and alot of blood, sweat and tears, we raised nearly £3000 and successfully held our Takeover event with 3 venues and 4 stages, with over 20 acts taking part. And in 2012 we're gonna do it all again......

The money raised from Oxjam helps Oxfam fight poverty in three ways:

Emergency response:
People need help in an emergency – fast. Oxfam saves lives, swiftly delivering aid, support and protection; and helping people prepare for future crises.

Development work:
Poor people can take control, solve their own problems, and rely on themselves – with the right support. Fighting poverty, Oxfam fund long-term work worldwide.

Campaigning for change: Poverty isn’t just about lack of resources. In a wealthy world it’s about bad decisions made by powerful people. Oxfam campaigns hard, putting pressure on leaders for real lasting change.
